Council gets its funding from the Precept. This forms part of the wider Council Tax bill you receive each year.
All decisions relating to the setting of the budget and precept are made in public. Towards the end of the calendar year, we look at what projects we may wish to pursue, what our general day-to-day spending is likely to be (street lights, maintenance, donations, staff/admin costs etc.), and consider our level of reserves. This forms the budget, and from this we make a Precept request to the Borough in January, who collect this on our behalf. Such decisions are minuted, with a detailed breakdown of spending areas and the effects for the Parish as a whole and individual properties.
At the end of the year, we have to complete an audit process. Details of this are on the Audit tab under Finance.
